WONDER IN WAVES,
Largo, MD
Tiaira Sellman of Drake’s Place in Largo, MD created a textured mane using human hair extensions…
Look like you’ve just stepped off a tropical beach with this daring coiffure detailed with strands in a luscious cerulean hue. Hair is cleansed with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, then a botanical oil is applied to the scalp. The mane is molded down and placed under a hood dryer for 45 minutes. Blue human-hair extensions are bonded into the mane and strands are smoothed at the crown with a flat iron. Luxurious lengths are then spiraled using a large-barrel curling iron.

REAL-WEAR TIPS
Hair pro Ellin LaVar gives you some must-know tips on styling extensions…
WORK WITH TEXTURE “I find my weave clients are looking for textures that require minimal maintenance. Body waves are great for going from straight to curly and, when worn big and voluminous it requires little maintenance.”
GO WITH COLOR DEPTH “It will be all about tones and depth: rich reds, bold golds and chocolate-swirl brunettes. We are moving away from the in-your-face color contrasting streaks.”

I have been wearing full head weaves for about 3 years now. I wear them becuase I am in college and have a hectic schedule. I want to go natural but really would like to wait until I am out of college next year. Since I have been wearing the weaves my edges have became super thin. I recently purchased some coconut oil. Is there a way to get my edges to be full again?
