3 Steps To The Perfect Twist Out

3_Steps_to_Get_the_Perfect_Twist_Out_With_Mielle

A perfect Twist Out can be achieved if you take the proper steps and use great products. But, there is one thing you need to know before getting started: If the hair is not properly moisturized when styling a Twist Out, then it will always be a fail. Here, the hair pros at Mielle Organics share these three easy steps for crafting this popular look.

Step One: Start with clean hair, condition and detangle

Most hairstyles come out better on hair that has been freshly cleansed and conditioned. Try the Babassu Conditioning Sulfate-Free Shampoo for dry and curly hair types to begin the process. It is also important to detangle hair thoroughly to get the best definition with the hairstyle. To make the process as seamless as possible, part hair into four sections and use a good leave in conditioner, such as the Organic White Peony Leave-In Conditioner, to help get all the tangles out, starting from ends to roots after washing the hair. Remember: Be gentle because rough detangling can lead to breakage.

Step Two: Use the right products to define the Twist Out

The best products to use are products that will help moisturize the hair while setting twists and defining curls. It is best to start a Twist Out on damp hair to help set the style.

The LOC Method is a great technique to ensure the proper definition and moisture for the Twist Out. The Organic White Peony Leave-In Conditioner paired with the Mint Almond Oil is a perfect comb for the L (leave in) and the O (oil) in the LOC Method. The Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream is the ideal choice for the C-cream in the LOC method to achieve a defined, frizz free Twist Out. It is also important to make sure that to apply enough product to each section prior to twisting hair for the proper moisture and definition of each twist.

Step Three: Untwist carefully

The way twists are unraveled plays a major role in how the final Twist Out looks. Make sure hair is completely dry before unraveling twists. Why? If hair is untwisted while still wet, frizz and lack of definition could result. The best technique is to start at the bottom of each twist and carefully unravel. For more volume use a pick to lift roots. But, make sure not to pick too muchor frizz may result.
