REV. DR. WILLIE T. BARROW,
CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST
The late Rev. Dr. Willie T. Barrow fought on the front lines of the Civil Right Movement during the 1950s and 1960s, and continued to fight for social justice throughout her life. Affectionately called “The Little Warrior,” Barrow worked with Rev. Jessie Jackson to establish Operation Breadbasket in Chicago, marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma, AL, served as the Chairman of the Board for the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, and mentored hundreds of young people. “My greatest learning experience was working in the labor movement and the civil rights movement.”
