SBH takes you behind the scenes at Rihanna’s So Kodak commercial shoot and gets the inside scoop on her racy red tresses…

When RiRi went red, we couldn’t help but wonder…why the change? “Why not red,” states celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen, the pro behind many of Rihanna’s famous looks. “Rihanna wanted her haircolor to represent the whole movement of her new CD Loud—and there’s nothing louder than bright red hair.”

Rihanna’s mane pro says it was easy to take the singer from her light blonde shade to a vibrant red hue. “I colored her hair with a semi-permanent shade called Matador Red and I bonded red human hair extensions to her own hair,” details Stephen. “I redo the extensions every two weeks to keep her hairstyle looking fresh.”

What’s the secret behind Rihanna’s scarlet Kodak look? “I curled the extensions and pinned it up to set the style,” explains the hairstylist. “I then took the pins out, brushed the curls and tucked them under a little. Her hair is actually a lot longer! Motions Light Hold Working Spritz was my go-to finishing product to keep her style in place for the day.” And that pretty peach bow? “Rihanna’s into wearing hair accessories and she likes nude colors,” reveals Stephen.
