What can I do to make my wrap look more healthy & flexible?
Thanks for all the wonderful, informative comments. I am writing this all down… for my next shopping trip. I want to discontinue using Color Charm .. It is drying my hair out. do you know what semi-permanent color I can use for my hair… that is not harmful….and puts moisture back.
-Brandy
Hi Brandy: Try using cellophanes, which are non-permanent hair dyes that have no ammonia and no peroxide (kind of like vegetable dye). A semi-permanent color hair rinse is another great option. But remember to condition, condition, condition! Use color-safe shampoo and conditioner and do a leave-in conditioner or a deep-conditioning treatment every other week to lock in moisture.
i have thick coarse hair that is damaged with split ends and brittle it will grow pass my shoulder then it will stop and start breaking off…i know i need to stop using relaxers but thats the only thing that helps me do anything with my hair… i just want healthy manageable hair. Is there any product that you can recommened me so i dont have to keep using relaxers?….HELP!!!!!!
Hi Jackie: Check out the November issue of SBH (with Kandi Burruss on the cover!) and read through the article called “Recession-ista Hair Moves.” Celebrity stylist Johnny Wright offers advice to maintain healthy hair (relaxed or Natural) at home.
My hair needs lots of moisture. I love Nexxus Therappe Luxurious Moisturizing shampoo and Nexxus Humectress Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner. I’m transitiong from a relaxer to wearing my hair naturally without cutting it all off, and using the Nexxus products has made my hair soft and healthy during the transitioning process. For flat ironing my hair, I use the CHI silk infusion.
Hey Keslie: Thanks for sharing!
I was wondering if oral hair vitamins really help your
grow and if so what brand do you recommend.
Hi Brandy: While there are hair vitamins designed to strengthen your hair and help it grow, you also have eat healthy, drink plenty of water and stick to a weekly cleansing/moisturizing routine.
Hello SBH
I have a question I am a Cosmetology student and i would like to know what products can i use to help my hair grow
Hi Latifa: In order for your hair to grow, you need to start with a strong foundation. Make sure your tresses are in their best shape by visiting the salon for weekly hot oil treatments. In addition, try using hair vitamins that contain folic acid, B6 and other nutrients.
I have very curly, fine hair that is very prone to FRIZZ. My hair grows very slowly, and seems to break VERY EASY. I need a MAJOR hair overhaul and would like some tips on caring for fragile hair like my own. I personally would love to be able to grow my hair Long, but just seems that I can’t get it there! HYDRATION! It is also very dry and brittle, just a frizzed mess. If I apply any type of heat, it breaks. Not sure what to do with it?!?!?
Hi Toni: The first step to fighting frizz is knowing what causes it. It could be humidity, too much heat styling or even applying too much product. Many women make the mistake of over-saturating their hair with product thinking their hair will get a lot more moisture. Doing this actually weighs the hair down and suffocates the hair cuticles. Our advice? Drink plenty of water and get a deep-conditioning treatment once a month. If you’re battling heat, use humidity-resistant sprays. For more fabulous frizz-fighting tips, check out “The Frizz Factor” story in the Sept./Oct. issue of SBH!
i have a dry scout – i mean i wash it and i have a dry scout – what can i use
Hi Nieco: A dry scalp is a sign your hair lacks moisture, and this doesn’t necessarily mean water. In addition to washing your hair, try using a moisturizing, rinse-out conditioner and be sure to rinse the product out very well to avoid leaving a residue on your scalp. Choose light natural styling products that do not contain alcohol so your hair will not dry out.
I couldn’t live without Hummingbird Hair products (www.HummingbirdHair.com) for my damaged breaking hair. I use their Keratin Fix Protein Therapie to repair my damaged hair. (I alternate this treatment with the Intensive Hydration Conditioning Mask whenever I wash my hair.)
When my hair is damp, I seal in the moisture with their leave in conditioner and use Platinum Shine Botanical Oil for daily styling. It really keeps my hair from breaking out like before. My hair is soft and strong now! Yes!
Hi Donna: Sounds like you have found products that work for you. Congrats!
hi….i have a big problem with getting balding spots around the front hairline area. What should I use to get rid of the problem and to also keep my hair from breaking? I am currently using the optimum care products but its not doing me any good.
I’ve used Organic Root Stimulator Temple balm on my girls edges when they have thinned as well as my own during pregnancy. If you aren’t sure what’s causing it (i.e. hairstyle or product, etc.), it may keep happening.
Hope this helps!
