A Phenomenal Woman has passed…Renowned poet, award-winning author, Civil Rights activist and national treasure Dr. Maya Angelou has died. She was 86. It’s been reported that Dr. Angelou had been battling health problems, having recently cancelled an appearance for an event to be held in her honor. Her many accomplishments and the body of work she produced in the areas of literature and entertainment is a wellspring of inspiration. She was also one of the first Black women film directors and her work on Broadway has been nominated for Tony Awards. Among her more famous works: the poem Phenomenal Woman and the autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” In recent years, Dr. Angelou also kept abreast of social media. Her last tweet: “Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God.”
