Q.
I have shoulder-length locs and am considering cutting them because I want a new look. I have no idea where to start. Do you have any suggestions. —Sonya
A.
Try to cultivate as much new growth as possible before cutting your locs. Continue growing new hair but do not twist or loc it. Keep [hair] conditioned and softened with natural oils like olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil or avocado oil. You can camouflage new growth with headbands or scarves. When you grow several inches of un-loced tresses, then you can cut the locs and start your new style.
