I have a lot of flakes in my hair and I don’t know how this happened. Is it dandruff? I oil my scalp and drink plenty of water every day. What can I do? —Amber
Dandruff particles are visible flakes of skin that have been continuously shedding from the scalp. It is normal to shed some dead skin flakes as the skin is constantly renewing itself. There can be numerous causes of a flaky scalp including: insufficient rinsing of shampoo, lack of natural scalp sebum, harsh shampoo, vitamin imbalance, air-conditioning, central heating, scalp eczema and/or scalp psoriasis. To be sure, you might consider a visit to the dermatologist. By first identifying the cause of the problem, it may be easier to discover a cure.
