I go to the gym a few times a week, and I sweat a lot. I wore cornrows for three years so the upkeep was easy, but I’ve recently removed them and flat-ironed my hair. Now when I exercise, my hair starts to kink. Do you have any suggests on how I can still have nice-looking hair that is easy to maintain—even with exercise? —Deidre
Maintaining a great style and a good exercise regimen is huge challenge. My best suggestion is to go with the flow and choose styles that have some texture versus smooth and straight looks. Try set styles like rods, twists or roller sets; these allow you to perspire a little at the root while maintaining a voluminous style. When you mane gets full, use headbands and hair scarves to enhance your style.
