Celebrity makeup artist Terrell Mullin has crafted some of the hottest beauty looks in Hollywood. Here, the makeup pro gives us a sneak peak into his fabulously glam world…
Celebrity makeup artist Terrell Mullin’s attention to detail and innovative ideas make him the first choice for stars such as Eva Marcille, Niecy Nash, Kimora Lee Simmons, Amber Riley, Angela Basset and Mary Mary. Establishing a reputation for his flawless looks and clean makeup techniques, Terrell’s commitment to learn and willingness to grow have paved the way for his success.

“One of the things I love most about working with Niecy is that she loves makeup. I can never put too much of anything on her, but I do like to keep her look rather minimal and let her big, brown eyes stand out. I love to work with a lot of bronze tones to give her a natural glow. I like to us M.A.C. Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit to create the perfect shimmery look for her. I stick with a deep, nude lipgloss for Niecy’s lips and define her lashes with several coats of black mascara.”

“When I work with Kimora Lee Simmons, I feel like I’m hanging with my homegirl from around the corner! She’s so down to earth and just a lot of fun. Kimora loves to wear a “smokey eye.” I find that Kevyn Aucoin’s The Eye Pencil Primatif in Basic Black helps me to achieve the perfectly dramatic and smoked-out look I like. I pair her dark eye look with a nude, glossy lip. And speaking of lips, Kimora’s are beautiful. They’re so plump and full that they make a statement in any shade!”

“It’s great working with Eva Marcille, not only because she is my cousin, but also because she never questions me. She never asks me what I am dong or which look I am going for, she just allows me to work my magic and accentuate her beauty. I always like to highlight her cheeks because they’re so big and go on forever. My go-to product when creating a makeup look for Eva is Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX 12 by Kevin Aucoin. I love it because it leaves her with a radiant, healthy-looking glow.”

After I had my son my skin has been so dry, then my pures on my face were so open its like had black heads all over. Now my face has like 3 different skin tones i kinda still have the dry skin. Im 22 nw I really dont no anything bout makeup or ever used it. I getting older i just want 2 make my self pretty. I always been insecure bout my looks nd im just trying 2 get out of this stage with a little of help. Please help.me i really dont no what to do
I think you should see a dermatologist. Makeup might make the situation worse. But make sure you find one who specializes in black skin. Covering up the problem won’t help cure you insecurity, healing it might help you start getting up that self-confidence. But do remember beauty is more than what’s on the outside. Good luck and congrads on the baby.
Hi Rebecca: If you’re having issues with dry skin, you may want to visit a dermatologist before applying any makeup. As for your skin tone, one makeup trick many celebrity makeup artists use is blending several shades of foundation together to create a shade that matches the skin perfectly. Check out the “Star Makeup” article in every issue of SBH for more tips from the makeup pros.
my favorite lip glosses are from relvon and milani. I always get people asking me what am i wearing. I love olay wipes, my skin is wonderful because of them. My favorite blushes are from mac, black radiance and covergirl. My favorite eyeshadow are from black radiance and bovanti. My favorite lipstick comes from mac, its a nude pink.
Hey harlow: Thanks for sharing your beauty finds! Consider it your beauty good deed for the day.
I have a few products that’s on the go with me. One, my cover girl Clean pressed powder. I love it because it has noxema in it and its absorbs the oil on my face throughout the day! Secondly, I must have my Palmer’s dark chocolate and peppermint lip butter! It adds a light shine without the gritty or sticky feel! Plus, it takes the craving of chocolate away. A tasty treat while looking fab!!!
Hi Marquisha: Sounds like you have quite the beauty arsenal! Check out the “Star Makeup” feature in the November issue of SBH (on stands now!) for some star style inspiration.
I don’t know what I’d be without my mascara! I have naturally long lashes, but it gives my eyes that fullness and “pop”! Two of my absolute faves are CoverGirl Lash Blast, and Revlon Double Twist.
Hi Leslie: Congrats on finding a mascara that works for you! Check out the latest issue of SBH (the one with Kandi Burruss on the cover!) for lots of cool makeup tips.
Thanks, Moo. Those are some of my ftiourvae movies too. Miss the wind in the face days when we flew together in the Quicksilver MX at Nusajaya.

Hi Tonya: Black eyeliner is a nice pick! Check out SBH’s November issue (with Kandi Burruss on the cover!) to find even more makeup-must haves.
I have very sensitive skin. I can only wash my face with very mild soap with my hands. I can’t use a towel, because my skin will blister at times. I have used a variety of liquid foundation products such as Olay, Covergirl and Mary Kay products. Each one has caused my skin to break out with skin irrigation. What product would you suggest for very sensitive skin?
Hi Lenora: It sounds like you need to see a dermatologist to get a handle on why your skin is so sensitive. Best of luck.
I have been trying makeup for a while now. I found a product that was right for me then clinque stop making it. I used to by the mousse made by them then they stop selling it. Can you pls help or give me some advice on what to use now. I have tried Avon, mabyeline and many others. I still can’t find something. I would like to try covergirl queen collection. What are your view on this product.
Hi Shyra AD: We’re big fans of the CoverGirl Queen Collection so check out the fab products! If a company no longer produces the beauty item you’ve been using, we suggest experimenting with other brands until you come across one you like. If you’re looking for a flawless foundation, keep in mind prepping with moisturizer and applying a cream foundation gives great coverage without looking too heavy.
Hello,
i have very dark skin- like the model alex wek, dark skin- and i have a very hard time finding foundation/concealer that look right- any recommendations?
Lucky for us, Tanya, makeup companies are taking into consideration the many shade ranges our beauty comes in and are making foundation shades which address our needs. Vist your fave department store and peruse the selection. CCoverGirl Queen Collection is one line you should also check out for a foundation match. Otherwise, you may to do what many supermodels, including Alek Wek, have done in the past–mix/blend your foundation shades to match your skin tone to perfection.
I have very oily skin, my chin & forehead breaks outs all the time. What can I use to clear my skin up?
Hi Latisha B: During the summer, a tonor or astringent may be helpful in controlling oily skin. Sunscreen should be a staple whether it’s the sunniest month or the coldest one. Many moisturizers and foundations come with SPF protection so select a product with a minimum SPF 15. Finally, it’s not just what we put on our skin that makes the difference; it’s what we put in our bodies! Drinking plenty of water will aid in ridding the body of toxins and impurities.
