The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) hosted their 7th Annual “Women Behind The Music” series last night at Subrosa in New York City. This year’s one-city series encourages and recognizes women in the music community. And we couldn’t be more thrilled that they honored the trailblazing and Grammy Award-Wining rap group, Salt-N-Pepa, for their 30-year career and accomplishments within the music business. The evening featured musical sounds by DJ Quiana Parks and a special performance of the hit single “Shoop” by Salt-N-Pepa themselves. ASCAP’s EVP Membership John Titta and VP Membership, Rhythm & Soul Nicole George-Middleton were also in attendance and presented the duo with honorary plaques for their monumental contributions to the music community. ‘Bout time y’all!
