FRESH FASHION
This chic look is both modern and unique thanks to colorful crimson highlights and striking silhouette. Strands are Wrapped and set under the dryer for about 30 minutes.
Get the look: Using a wide-tooth comb, tresses are slicked back and secured in place with hairpins at the nape. Fringe is left out and a pompadour shape is formed over one side to showcase cinnamon highlights. Hairpins work to secure bangs and hairspray keeps the look smooth and frizz-free.
PIN-UP PRETTY
Glam curls are the perfect way to dress up an everyday style. Medium-length, Natural hair is blow-dried before being cornrowed to prep for a full weave.
Get the look: Gold and dark brown extensions are then sewn in from front to back, with Natural strands left out at the crown. Extensions are trimmed to even out, creating long layers throughout. As a flat iron shapes the spirals, curls are pinned in place to set.
GORGEOUSLY GLOSSY
Make a great first impression with long, shiny lengths. Gorgeous chestnut highlights brighten up a rich, black base shade.
Get the look: Layers are shaped with scissors and come to a V-shape in the back. Bangs brush eyebrows to help frame the face and add definition to the style. A ceramic flat iron smoothes tresses to create a sleek and polished silhouette. To finish, a light-hold spritz is used.

Hi, Im alexus. I have very curly hair, and i just got a texturizer a few months ago so the curls can be tamed, but my hair still seems big from time to time. Any suggestions?
Hi Alexus: Proper frizz control is based upon the texture of your hair. If you’re hair is medium to coarse, you can use a little mousse, setting lotion or styling foam to tame those curls. However, fine hair is a bit of a problem. Stick with humidity-resistant sprays. You don’t want to put in any products that can weigh the hair down.
Hello There, my hair is breaking a lot, iv cut it, then grew it afresh, iv tried a lot of hair products, i deep condition once a week, and do a treatment every two weeks but nothing has helped. iv even tried leaving it alone and basing 3 times a week, i dont do any heat styling, i stopped dye-ing it months ago, iv tried hair suppliments and nothing. Advice please.
thanx
Hi Zahira: It sounds like you may need to do more than just treat your hair. Maintaining a healthy diet is a huge part of haircare. In addition to doing deep-conditioning treatments and laying off the heat styling, you should also drink plenty of water every day. If you’re still having trouble, set up a consultation with a professional stylist.

My hair is shedding a lot, I went and had a consultation with a stylist. She mentioned, that my scalp is dry and that I need to start getting scalp treatments so that my scalp gets healthier. Are there any scalp treatments I can do at home? I’m considering just cutting my hair, and allowing it to grow back by next summer. They stylist said, that a cut would make it grow; however, if I don’t start getting scalp treatments then the cut will only make the shedding more noticeable. Any suggestions???

Hi Rebecca: You’re not alone! Many of our readers have asked us questions about hair growth. Check out the Hair Advice column in the November issue of SBH—the one with Kandi Burruss on the cover. You’ll find the answer a similar question and more inside this issue.
Hi Demeturia, you could also try AG pro vitamins. I been using them for a month now and I could see a difference already.
I have very thick and hard to tame hair i do not have a perm and i don”t want one but i want my to be straight sometimes. i have tried flat ironing my hair but it only stays straight for half an hour and i was wondering if i put hair lotion in my hair first then flat iron it will that keep it straight???????? any suggestions please let me know
Hi Lakia: When you’re straightening your hair, divide it into small sections. If one pass with the flat iron doesn’t work, try separating the hair into even smaller subsections. You may be trying to straighten too much hair, which is why it’s difficult for the style to last.
I have tried everything I could think of for my thining hair, any suggestions.
One thing that is guaranteed is Nioxin Scalp treatment. This stuff works because I use it myself.
Hi Jennifer: Taming coarse hair takes a little work, but once you develop a process that works, it’s smooth sailing. Use a conditioning shampoo soften your hair and provide manageability. If blow-drying, try using a straightening balm or with anti-frizz benefits and finish with a ceramic flat iron. If you’re interested in cutting your hair to remove some of the bulk, opt for soft layers that will look fabulous when styled with a curling iron.
You must use a reconstructioning conditioner along with aphogee 2 step protien treatment I know it stinks but its very good for your hair. Then use do gro anti thinning oil as an hot oil treatment avoid to alot of heat braids and anything that would stress your hair. I recommend roller wrapping and keep it wrapped. (but not too tight)
hey my name is janisha and my hair is thin and breaking off very bad. I dont know what to do to make it grow faster and grow stronger….
Hi Janisha: Tackling breakage problems can be confusing. SBH set the record straight in the Sept./Oct. issue (with Zoe Saldana on the cover). Pick up a copy and check out the article called “Breakage Myths.”
Hi! My daughter is 11. Her hair is very fine especially around her sides. What can i use to make her hair thick?
My suggestion is to stay away from perms if you are using those on her hair. Let her hair grow out of the perm and wear it natural. Also, keep heat away from it. Let her get a cute twist style, soft updo, weave or braids done by a professional for a while. If she does braids or weave, only keep it in for about 8 weeks. Wash it every two weeks with organic shampoos and let her take Biotin vitamins from the health food store. If her scalp gets dry, rub a small amount of Jojoba oil in it. I have been doing this natural routine for the past 5 years and my hair is now almost to the middle of my back.
Use Jamaican Black Castor Oil. You may have to order it online but it helps a great deal to thickening your hair
You could try using Jamaican black castor oil on her scalp as this promotes growth of healthy thick hair. Also try hair styles that do not tug so much on the finer hairs around her scalp.
I noticed a remarkable difference when my niece used temple balm for her thinning edges.
Hi Demeturia: The key to hair growth is strong strands. If you want to strengthen your daughter’s tresses, try using hair vitamins that contain folic acid, B6 and other nutrients. These hair vitamins are designed to make the hair more durable.
