BRUNETTE BEAUTY
This subtle shade cocktailed by Kimberly Joseph of Kimistry Hair Studio in Houston, TX, is a great natural hue that’s perfect for a career woman like you. A few flips of the flat iron adds shapely dimension to the classic bob.

RAVEN MAVEN
Tammy Herod of Tammy’s Hair Gallery in Oxford, MS, colors lush lengths a deep brown shade. Hair is styled sleek with a flat iron to show off the glossy haircolor and enhance smoothness of the style, which includes a brow-brushing fringe.
STAR STYLE INSPIRATION
Starring on BET’s The Game, actress Tia Mowry wears her natural brunette haircolor.
TIP OF THE MOMENT
To add some dimension to her mane shade, Tia wears clip-in extensions. “I don’t color my hair at all,” she says. “That’s what I love about extensions—I don’t have to color my own hair. I just use hair extensions for some highlights.” Look for shades close to your own haircolor for the most natural-looking results.

Hi, I have natural hair and i have been inspired to color mine the same as reagan preston but im not sure if i can pull it off im a caramel complexion
Well, Shanna, since you’re still making up your mind about the color, why not try on a wig–just to see if you like how the hair shade works with your skintone? Also, don’t forget that your colorist can tailor the hue to you. So, you may not get the exact shade as worn by the star but you can get a color that’s near it–and more flattering to your skin tone.
I loved Rihanna’s hair when she had it cut short and coloured black with a lot of razor cut bangs like in the Take a Bow music video. So I had it cut that way in December last year. I love it. She has so many edgy styles! She always looks gorgeous!
Hi Kym! You’re going to love the August issue of SBH with Rihanna on our cover! In it, we detail some of her latest coif moves and give you the details on her unique approach to style. Enjoy!
I want to buy the hair care product that is called the ‘munipulator’ by Bed Head. It is a hair sculpter. I read that Rihanna uses it on her hair, to give it that edge that I like. The only problem is that it cost $16.00(that I don’t have). Is there another product out that I can use that does the same thing as the ‘munipulator’ but dosen’t cost as much?
Hi Hannah: Basically you need to look for a product that helps give your coif shape, texture and definition-while still being pliable enough to re-style. There are several products on the market in different price ranges available. Basically you want to seek out a “molding mud,” a “styling pomade” or a “flexible hold gel”–these are key words to look for in the packaging. Check out the August issue of SBH (with Rihanna on the cover!) and get more insider secrets to her trendsetting coif moves. We also think you’ll enjoy the money-saving tips in our “Summer Hair Savings” story. Check it out.
Beyonce and Keyshia Cole. Inspire me to change my look. But Wendy Williams is the main reason I started wearing wigs. Its easier to maintain. But I try to keep my real hair as oiled as possible. But I have a question. My natural hair is alwyas very dry no matter what I put in it. But right now I’m using Growth Renew lotion, shampoo and conditoner. But I still have dry scalp. What should I do. I need help.
Hi honeylene : Check in with your stylist and explain your styling process. Your hair pro can best check out mane condition and offer a coif care routine for your needs.
I’m a dark skinned person about the complexion of Fantasia and I would like to lighten my hair, what’s you’re suggestive color for my complexion?
Hi Tharry It all depends on how dramatic you want the effect to be! With darker complexions, try deep auburns or dark golds. Keep in mind you don’t have to go for all-over color (try highlights to test drive the shade effect). You can also try on wigs to get a preview of how a particular hue will look on you. And, you can always check out what your girl Fantasia is doing with her coif to get some color inspiration!
Hey, i was wondering should I just get highlights for my first time rinsing my hair or dye all of it ?? And also my hair is black and I am caramel so I was wondering what color would look right on me and how bright can I go with my dark hair (with a rinse)
If you’re going with a rinse Jasmine, you’ve got to keep in mind that the color shift will be more subtle than dramatic. If this is your first time with color, go in for a consultation with a skilled professional colorist to get a better idea of the right shades for your skintone, the amount of maintenance needed, etc. Our vote: If you’re a color newbie but insist on seeing some type of change on your hair–opt for subtle highlights in a deep caramel hue.
My hair has broke off in a section of my head. I dont know what to do. my scalp is very dry and i have these bump on my scalp also. I want to dyd it but my hair is falling out what do i do please help me?my hair is my everything and i dont want to cut it off but i want it to grow.
Desiree Johnson from what you describe, it may not be the best time to apply color to your coif! Get yourself to the salon ASAP and find out what’s going on with your scalp and hair breakage-before you even think about applying a chemical process on your already stressed-out strands. Best of luck.
my coment its hard to find the right perm or hair color by looking the different hair book because the models wear weave. Also when looking for a hair style I have only found 1 book by the name of trends that with every style it gives you the name of the hair to use to create that style. going into a hair store now a days is like shopping for a car or taking a test in school its so in depth.i would also like to see more hair sites to pick hair styles and products. Hairmedia.com is a very good online site.
Well April Watson We can certainly understand how you easy it is to become overwhelmed when it comes to selecting hair extensions. But look at it this way: Isn’t it wonderful that you have such an extensive selection of textures, lengths and colors available? With a little patience and research (check out SBH for info on hair extensions and trends) you can come away with your ideal coif! As for selecting a coif hue, select a shade you love then show a photo of the effect to your colorist to help you replicate the effect on your own strands.
I want to try a new relaxer that relax my hair without damaged it!! please..
One thing you’ve got to keep in mind Cristie is that it may not be the relaxer formula but how you’re applying it that will make the difference. You may also be using the wrong relaxer strength formula on your strands. Check in with your fave stylist for some info about your particular hair situation. Best of luck!
I’ve always loved beyonce hair color it looks so gorgeous on her and yes I had it before and now I want it back so bad I do miss the color.I wore the color for a year I loved it but I like to change my style at least every 4 months.
