TIP OF THE MOMENT
Take the time to weigh your options when you’re looking for a new hue. Once you apply a really dark shade, lifting your haircolor could take time, especially if you want to go all the way to a platinum hue from a basic black haircolor. Experiment with wigs to see if a deep hue is right for you and know what you’re getting into before you commit to a new shade!

my hair has been shoulder length since i was little but thin and i wanted to grow past my shoulders my moms is down the middle of her back im not sure what i should do????
my hair wont grow i have no perm or nothing and i get my hair braided once a month for four or five years now and there has only been about 2inches of growth in all that time, and it pops off easy please advise me
Hi again bg! See the response to this same post in the “Hairstyle Gallery” of the SBH Web site. Thanks!
Its so funny that as loc rroekcs, we can hate our hair, but everyone around us will love it. I've been side eyeing my baby locs like crazy, huffin and puffin, mad that they dont look like I want them to…but all I get are compliments. lolHave you thought about your loctician marrying/divorcing them for you so they dont vary in size too much?
I have had so many bad experiences @ salons that now my hair will grow but then break back off! What do I need to do to help my hair or me to get back in a salon? Plus, now beauticians charge alot. I called on to see about getting a shampoo, deep conditioning, trimmed ends, and a wrap…They wanted $85!! I couldn’t believe my ears. Is that the prices these days? I am in Indiana not California or somewhere big!! Sorry but thats just the way that I feel
Hi Mrs.S.D.: We hear you…Good service and quality styling will always come at a premium–which is why when you find a great salon, it’s always a style blessing. Check out the many hot salons we feature in SBH…you might find one in your area that will work for you! Good luck.
For the services provided your right may be to much for you but the stylist says she is worth that and if you are worth that, that is what your hair will get 85$ not 45$ that doesn’t hold up.
I just recently starting growing out my perm. My hair is long past my shoulders more towards the middle of my back. Is there any products out there that can help the process go faster besides conditioning and oil treatments to prevent breakage?
Hi Morgan: It sounds like you’re doing the right things to help foster good hair growth. Now all you need is a bit of patience. Check out the March/April issue of SBH for some wonderful ways to keep treating your tresses with TLC!
My question is, (I have decided to let my hair grow out, it is really short now. I want to know what steps should I take to letting it grow out? And how long before I see results?)
Dont put a perm in it just let it grow out naturaly trust me it will work.I ust to have a bob and now its past my shoulder no weeve or nothin..
Braids are always a great option. Hair grows most when u handle it less. Deep condition (sit under dryer w/ conditioner for at least 10 mins then rinse) when shampooing try moisturizing or protien enriched products with penetrating capabilities. Always cut your split ends in between styles/ braids/ sew in weaves…
Hair coloring is so great i have gotn almost all the colors i can think of except purple and blue and i can’t even remember my natural hair color.lol. most people says that too much will bring your hair out but i am very caution and well skilled with my doings…
Hi, I was reading your comment, and I am trying to do some colors in my head now. About 2 years ago, I tried to dye my hair blonde, and that took out my hair so bad, that I just did not want to go there again. I want to die my hair a honey brown with gold highlights….do I have chance?
What are the names of some good human hair for a sew in
Hi Marla : Flip through the February 2010 issue of SBH and check out the advertisements from the companies who have human hair products for weaving available.
my favorite celeb is mary j ,she have highliths vibrant color i like c est joliiii
My favorite celeb is the Keyshi Cole. Every color she does goes with her well. I went bold and had a permanent color done going from dark brown to honey blond. Being that I am a fair skinned sister, it went with me well. Currently I just refreshed my color and I have been wearing it since July. I had a hair cut the first and it was beautiful, but I plan to grow out my hair and have the blond on top and a nice redish blond on the bottom. I love to experiment diferent things and seeing Ms. Cole do it just makes me so excited and wanting to do more just with care. But can you give me any tips on caring for my permanent colored hair.
Thanks, keep up the good Job!!!
I’m thinking about dying my hair like a light auburn with some blonde streaks or just doing light aurburn streaks with my natural hair color…I have a mixture of brown colors in my natural hair, dark brown sandy brown light brown its a mess, but I’ve never worn hair color like that will it damage my hair, will it look right?
Hi Markesia: The color blend you’re considering sounds really pretty. Test trial the look with clip-in hair pieces to see if you like the effect. In the meantime, check out the “Loving Hue” story in the February 2010 issue of SBH. In it, you’ll get all the insider info on how to select your most flattering mane hue!
I feel your pain! I am in the pcroess of combining my locs also but I am sewing mine together with invisible thread (started out with regular thread) The locs combined with the invisible thread look a heck better than the ones with regular thread but i REFUSe to re-do them bad boys…I'll send you before and after pics once I am done. I started off with 174 locs and have much less now. Had to be done cause they are skinny and starting to thin and I got tired of tying knots in the thin spots so hello needle and thread. I have also thought about cutting them off and starting over. I'll wait to see how I feel about them once I finish combining.
