You read that right…It’s still July but Autumn beauty trends are arriving and one of the first trend sightings is this sparkly mani at the Badgley Mischka Autumn/Winter 2015 presentation during NY Fashion Week. “Heavy baroque embellishments, a nod to the traditional Spanish matador, lay the foundation for Badgley Mischka’s Fall/Winter collection,” reveals the show’s Lead Manicurist Deborah Lippmann (also the Founder and Creative Director of her namesake nail polish line). “Utilizing Swarovski crystals atop and on the underside of the nails, I created my most bejeweled look of the season.” Here, she outlines the steps to get this runway-ready mani:
Step 1: Deborah buffed natural nails.
Step 2: To prep the nail plate, she exfoliated the cuticle using her signature Cuticle Remover and then cleansed the nails with her 2-Second Nail Primer prior to base coat application.
Step 3: Prior to lacquer application, Deborah fashioned long, almond shaped nails atop each natural nail. For the base, Deborah applied a coat of the new All About That Base CC base coat to create a smooth, matte surface.
Step 4: Deborah then applied two coats of her new Can’t Be Tamed nail lacquer, a honey gold glitter with a mahogany base, waiting two minutes between coats. One coat of Fade to Black was used on the underside of each nail, along with Swarovski crystals underneath and on top of the nail, from the free edge to the tip.
Step 5: After waiting two minutes to dry, one coat of Gel Lab Top Coat was applied to seal the nails and prevent chipping. The new The Wait Is Over quick dry drops were added as a finishing touch to ensure faster drying time and a flawless finish.
