To whom this may concern: I’m writing this message today to find out some more info on becoming a male model for SBH and other opportunities that you all may offer> I always see them in the magazine and hair shows that I’ve been to. I’ve thought many times that could be me and I’m trying to start to speak things as if the already are. I currently live in Louisville ,KY and we don’t have many hair anythings and I’m trying to make some change to that and be a part of the change! I thank you for the time you took out to read this message and would love to hear from you ASAP

    • SBH says:

Hi DeShawn: If you’re interested in becoming part of the SBH model crew for hair shows, you can send photos of yourself (a headshot and a body shot) along with info about your interest in joining the SBH model crew. Send the info to: SOPHISTICATE’S BLACK HAIR, Attn: SBH Model Crew, 875 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 3434, Chicago, IL. Or, if you’re attending the Bronner Bros. how to submit a hair photo to the magazine

    • SBH says:

Hi Tanisha: Pick up a copy of SBH and flip to “Beauty Exchange” near the back of the magazine. Look for the Reader’s Corner release form and make enough copies so each model has a copy she completely fills out in ink. And don’t forget to have the photographer sign the same release form! Mail the release forms and a disc of photos to Sophisticate’s Black Hair at 875 N. Michigan Ave, Ste. 3434, Chicago, IL 60611.

I am inspired beautician are there any scholarships out there for beauty school and whats tips would you give on getting my name out there? Thanks from the Hair Addict. lol

    • SBH says:

Hi Keshia: As far as scholarships are concerned, it wouldn’t hurt to contact your local beauty schools and ask. If you don’t ask, you’ll never know! To get your name out there, put a portfolio together (include photos of your work and your résumé) and network! Surround yourself with the type of people you’d like to work with and learn from other stylists in the business.

  9. sharon says:

What is the best hair to do sculpt ponytails

    • SBH says:

Hi Sharon: If you’re referring to a weave style, you may want to consult a professional weaver. The weave must be applied a certain way in order for you to be able to wear ponytails and have your style look as natural as possible (make sure those tracks are not showing!).

  10. Jazmine Parks says:
