Tené Williams

Tené Williams

Soul-stirring singer/songwriter Tené Williams is best known for her early ’90s hit “Give Him A Love.” These days the stunning songbird is taking vocal performance to a new level with her album Brave, via her own record label Sierra Music Group. Here, the gorgeous sister chats about her unstoppably sexy style…

Tené Williams

“I like updos but I’m not crazy about them because I’m such a hair girl. To me, hair is one of my most fabulous accessories!”

“Tight curls aren’t my thing. I like to use hot rollers to create big curls. When I remove the rollers I finger-comb the curls to loosen them up and create a flowy look.”

Tené Williams

“I always make sure my hairstyle is versatile. I like to have the option to be able to throw it off to the side, put it into a ponytail, twist it up or just wear it down.”

“I love to wear my hair in super long, free and flowy curls with a center or slight side part.”

    • SBH says:

Bonjour Alexys-Mickaelle ! We agree, Tippi Shorter is one of the best in the celebrity hairstyling game! You can find out more about her hair extensions line with a little online Web sleuthing. In the meantime, a copy of the May 2010 issue of SBH (the one with Janet Jackson on the cover) and peruse the many fine advertisers of lace-front wigs and hair extensions found in the issue. Bonne chance et jour heureux de cheveux !

  4. Aeya says:

    Hi

the magazine is interesting, however it would be really nice to see some more dark-skinned models as there are surely some out there and this is supposed to be a black hair magazine. Take the picture of Michelle Williams for example -surely that is not her skin has been touched up, she wasn’t that colour the last time I saw her on tv. Nothing against the models in the magazine, but it would be good to see a wider spectrum of black people – maybe you could substitute some of the large number of Asian models you have in the magazine for some actual black people. Their hair is not the same as black hair so their inclusion in a magazine about black hair has always baffled me.

    • SBH says:

Hi Aeya: We try to feature the wide range of beauty found in the African-American community…and that includes all the beautiful shades we come in. Sometimes, depending on how a photo is taken, skin tones can change due to the photographic lighting to create a special effect or mood for the portrait. The example of the Michelle Williams photos you sited is such the case where the lighting creates the illusion you’re seeing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  5. playfish says:

i’m continually jumping across the online world just about all of the morning as a result I have a tendency to read a ton, which isn’t typically a good factor as almost all of the internet sites I look at are composed of pointless garbage copied from several other internet websites a trillion times, on the other hand I’ll hand it to ya this site is actually enjoyable and provides a bit of unique substance, therefore thanks for splitting the trend of just duplicating other folks’ sites, in case you ever want to take up a couple of hands of myspace poker together with me just email me – you have my e mail :)

    • SBH says:

Hello playfish : If you think the SBH site is a great destination for hair info, you’re gonna love our magazine—Sophisticate’s Black Hair (the May 2010 issue is currently available). In it, we give you even more mane info you can use. Enjoy and thanks for the kind words.

  9. Tanga Anderson-Solomon says:

Hi – I know an up and coming actress – Tabitha Brown – who is beautiful inside and out and who I would love to see featured in your celebrity chat. She is out of Los Angeles CA and if you need anymore information, please let me know. Thank you

  10. NYAmericanPrincess says:

I hate to be negative, but I really wish your Web site was more enterprise-driven, showing stuff or giving more info that is not in the publication. I wish you would use your Web site like a tool to promote your magazine rather than simply referring people to go buy the magazine.

    • SBH says:

Hi NYAmericanPrincess: Thanks for the words…The SBH Web site was created to work in tandem with our magazine. Therefore, you’ll find more detailed info about hair care and a wider selection of styles in the publication—which is why we ask readers to check out our magazine.
