Lupus LA received $25,000 to put towards lupus research, education and assistance with the help of celebrity ambassador Toni Braxton. The seven time Grammy Award-winning singer battled it out on the series premiere of ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud Sunday evening, where popular celebrities and their families play for charities near and dear to their hearts.
Toni, who serves on the Board of Directors for Lupus LA, played alongside her sisters Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci. The opposing team included actor Anthony Anderson and his family, who went head to head with the Braxtons in naming the most popular responses to a variety of survey-type questions posed to 100 people. The winning team was given the chance to win up to $25,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. The choice was easy for Toni, who herself has lived with lupus for several years. Lupus, which affects 1.5 million in the U.S., is an autoimmune disorder that attacks a wide range of body parts, from joints and skin to the brain, blood vessels, kidneys and other vital organs. While the lifelong disease is incurable, Lupus LA works to raise money year round in support of education, research and support for individuals and their families living with lupus. Great job on your win Toni!
